Depression can be treated through Drug treatments like antidepressants, Psychotherapy including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and by offering Support (discussing practical solutions, educating family members, etc.).

Anxiety disorders lead to fear, excessive nervousness, apprehension, and worry. A person is diagnosed with anxiety disorder when he or she is said to have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns which interfere with daily function. These disorders also cause physical symptoms when the affected person alters the way he or she behaves and processes emotions.

Symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder include restlessness, and a feeling of being “on-edge”, uncontrollable feelings of worry, sleep difficulties, increased irritability and difficulties in concentration.

Anxiety disorders can be caused by environmental stressors, such as difficulties at work and relationship problems, genetics, stress due to medical factors (an intensive surgery or prolonged recovery), brain chemistry (hormonal imbalance).

Treating anxiety disorders will require a combination of psychological counselling, medication and behavioral therapy.  Additionally developing a support network of family members and friends, use of relaxation techniques, deep breathing and physical exercises will help release chemicals in the brain that trigger positive feelings.
